"Dii" is launching a beta test for divorce proceedings

The Ministry of Justice, in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, is launching beta testing of a new service in the “Diya” app that will allow couples to dissolve their marriage remotely. This service is designed for spouses who have reached a mutual agreement and do not have any minor children together. 

Thanks to this innovation, citizens will be able to complete the entire procedure without having to visit the Civil Registry Office in person.

According to the Ministry of Justice, once the service is officially launched, it will be possible to file an application and confirm the decision entirely online while complying with all legal requirements, including the mandatory one-month cooling-off period granted to the couple to reconsider their decision.

Adult citizens of Ukraine who have mutually agreed to divorce and do not have any minor children in common are eligible to participate in the beta testing. Mandatory technical requirements for both partners include a verified RNOKPP, an activated “Diya.Signature,” and the presence of an ID card or a biometric foreign passport in the app. In addition, the marriage must be officially registered in Ukraine, and information about it must be recorded in the State Register of Civil Status Acts.

To participate in the pilot program, each partner must fill out the appropriate form, after which they will receive an email with further instructions. The organizers note that after submitting the application, the legally prescribed waiting period will apply, and the final stage of the procedure will include a video conference and the actual state registration of the divorce.
