A fatal traffic accident involving the deputy mayor occurred in Kharkiv

In Kharkiv, police investigators have launched a pre-trial investigation into a traffic accident involving Ivan Kuznetsov, the deputy mayor for city services, which resulted in one fatality. While the investigation is ongoing, the official has officially announced his resignation. 

This was reported to journalists by the communications department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kharkiv region, according to Interfax-Ukraine.

The accident occurred around 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of Klochkivska Street and Kravtsova Lane. According to preliminary data from the press service of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the driver of a Ford F150, while making a left turn, failed to yield to a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R motorcycle traveling in the oncoming lane. As a result of the collision, the 43-year-old motorcycle rider sustained severe injuries and died in the ambulance.

The driver himself confirmed the accident on social media and stated that he was sober at the time of the collision. Law enforcement agencies and the prosecutor’s office have preliminarily confirmed that the SUV driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Initial investigative actions are currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the tragedy, after which a decision will be made regarding whether to notify the driver of the vehicle of suspicion.
