In Lithuania, border guards intercepted a homemade drone coming from Belarus

Lithuanian border guards successfully intercepted a drone that had entered the country from Belarus in the Šalčininkai district. After deploying special anti-drone equipment, the drone crashed near the village of Dumbė, 500 meters from the state border.

This was reported by the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service (VSAT), according to LRT.

The operation began on Saturday evening following a request from the Lithuanian Air Force, whose assets had detected an unidentified aerial object. During an inspection of the remains of the homemade drone, which sustained heavy damage during the crash, border guards found no cargo. Meanwhile, Lithuanian authorities announced the termination of a separate operation to search for another drone that had entered the country’s airspace last Thursday. On May 20, a red alert was declared in several eastern regions of Lithuania and in Vilnius due to the aerial threat, forcing the country’s top leadership to take shelter.

On the morning of May 23, another drone incursion was recorded in Latvia. Prior to this, air raid alerts due to UAVs had been declared in the country nearly every day that week.

According to The Telegraph, Russia has allegedly learned to intercept and “reroute” Ukrainian drones, forcing them to fly toward NATO countries. Due to massive electronic warfare attacks, the drones lose their bearings and begin to veer off course.
