NABU detective could have wiretapped the SBU
On June 19, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine announced that, during a search of the home of the head of one of its detective units, it had discovered technical devices that could have been used for covert information gathering. A pre-trial investigation has been launched into this matter.
According to the NABU, the owner of the apartment one floor above reported that he had been approached by individuals who identified themselves as law enforcement officers. They assured him that a Russian spy was living in the apartment below him. Detectives identified one of the men as a current employee of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
NABU states that the detective is involved in investigating criminal cases related to corruption offenses in the customs sector, as well as the activities of law enforcement officials and state-owned enterprises.
