The Pentagon denied that it had changed its mind about deploying troops to Poland at the last minute

U.S. Department of Defense spokesperson Joel Valdes stated that the decision to cancel the planned deployment of an armored brigade comprising 4,000 troops to Poland was not made on a whim.

According to the department spokesperson, this decision was preceded by a lengthy, comprehensive, and multi-level analytical process in which leaders of the U.S. European Command, as well as commanders at all levels, were directly involved. This was the Pentagon’s response to criticism in the media, as reported by Polish radio station RMF24.

A representative of the Department of Defense categorically denied reports in the press that the deployment of the American contingent had been abruptly halted “at the last minute.” Valdes emphasized that such an interpretation of events is completely false and does not correspond to reality. Despite the Pentagon’s statements, Western media had previously reported that the cancellation of the regular troop rotation took the Polish side and some U.S. military officials by surprise, as some of the brigade’s equipment and soldiers were already en route to Europe at the time the order was issued.

The United States has canceled the deployment of more than 4,000 American troops to Poland. This involves the redeployment of the 2nd Armored Combat Team of the 1st Cavalry Division and associated military equipment.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hagset’s decision to cancel the deployment of approximately 4,000 U.S. troops to Poland came as a surprise to some Pentagon officials. Officials at the U.S. Department of Defense say they do not understand the motives behind this move.
