A suspension bridge up to 300 m high will be built in Romania near the border with Ukraine

A contract has been signed in Romania for the design and construction of a suspension footbridge across the Rebra River valley near the village of Parva in the Transylvania region.

The structure could become one of the country’s most striking tourist attractions.

According to the design, the bridge will be:

  • a length of about 620 meters
  • a maximum height of up to 300 meters
  • the status of one of the potentially highest bridges in Europe

The new infrastructure is expected not only to improve access to mountainous areas but also to significantly boost the region’s appeal to tourists, particularly the Rodna Mountains National Park.

The total investment amounts to over 23.8 million lei (about 4.55 million euros).

Ioan Strugari, mayor of the commune of Parva, stated that the project is part of the community’s development strategy:

“This is yet another dream come true that will transform Parva from a little-known village into an attractive destination for young people.”

He also emphasized the importance of rural development:

“A lack of development means the gradual disappearance of rural communities over time.”

Local authorities plan to attract tourists to this little-known mountainous region, create a space for cultural and creative initiatives, and hold a public discussion on the name of the future bridge.

The project is being implemented in the Carpathian region of Romania—approximately 45 km from the border with Ukraine, in a picturesque mountainous area that is part of Transylvania’s tourist attractions.

This was reported by timponline.ro.

As a reminder, a new pedestrian bridge will soon be built in the park on Pryrichna Street in the Obolon district of the capital. It will become part of the renovated recreational area and a new leisure destination for Kyiv residents.
