In Sweden, a 14-year-old boy hijacked a bus from Norway

In Sweden, following a request from Norwegian law enforcement, a bus with Norwegian license plates—which had been stolen from the Oslo area—was stopped.

A 14-year-old boy was found behind the wheel of the vehicle; according to police, he “took it for a ride.”

This was reported by SVT and Sveriges Radio.

The incident occurred on the morning of Tuesday, April 14. Swedish police received a report from their Norwegian counterparts that a stolen city bus was believed to be somewhere along the route from the Norwegian border to Gothenburg, Sweden.

Twenty minutes later, Swedish police stopped the bus near the town of Stenungsund, close to Gothenburg, about 90 km from the Norwegian border. A 14-year-old Norwegian teenager was found behind the wheel, and the bus was reportedly stolen from Oslo. The distance from the Norwegian capital to the location where it was stopped is about 200 kilometers.

Norwegian broadcaster NRK provides updated information stating that the bus was not from the capital, but from a town south of Oslo. The distance from there to the point of apprehension is 170 km. Norwegian law enforcement began tracking the bus via a GPS tracker after the transportation company reported its disappearance from the bus depot at 4 a.m.

During this entire time, the young driver without a license did not cause any accidents, and no reports of anything suspicious were received from other drivers on the road.

The boy was taken into custody and will be handed over to the adults responsible for him; the bus was impounded by Norwegian law enforcement.

It is worth noting that in Norway, one can obtain a Category B driver’s license starting at age 18, while minors aged 16 and older may only receive permission to operate small mopeds and tractors.

Belgium and Norway are delaying the delivery of half of the F-16 fighter jets promised to Ukraine.

Poland has not yet transferred MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine. Dialogue between the parties on this issue is ongoing.

Additionally, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the EU stated that the U.S. remains an ally.

During the exchange, 40 Ministry of Internal Affairs employees were returned to Ukraine.
