On Saturday, Russian forces attempted to break through the defensive line in the Kupiansk and Kostiantynivka sectors – General Staff
Since the early hours of Saturday, April 4, Russian terrorists have attacked the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces 55 times. Artillery shelling of border areas continues. Today, in the Sumy region, the settlements of Korenok, Bachivsk, Iskryskivshchyna, Boyaro-Lezhachi, Rohizne, and Ulanove were hit; in the Chernihiv region, Yasna Polyana and Kryvush were affected.
This is reported in the latest summary from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Situation by sector
- In the Northern Slobozhansky and Kursk sectors, the enemy carried out 65 attacks on settlements and our troops’ positions, seven of which involved the use of multiple launch rocket systems.
- In the Southern Slobozhansky direction, the enemy launched four assaults on the positions of our units in the areas of the settlements of Vovchansk, Okhrimivka, and Ambarne.
- In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attempted four times to improve its position in the areas of the settlements of Kivsharivka and Novoosynove.
- In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian troops repelled one attempt by the invaders to advance toward the town of Lyman.
- In the Kostiantynivka sector, the invaders carried out 17 attacks near Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Illinivka, Stepanivka, Novopavlivka, and Sofiivka. Four firefights are still ongoing.
- In the Pokrovsk direction, since the start of the day, the occupiers have attempted 11 times to dislodge our troops from their positions in the areas of the settlements of Bilytske, Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Udachne, Hryshyne, Myrnohrad, and Novomykolaivka. Two clashes are still ongoing.
- In the Oleksandrivka sector, the enemy launched seven attacks in the areas of the settlements of Oleksandrohrad, Sichneve, and Verbove.
- In the Huliaipole sector, the Defense Forces successfully repelled seven enemy attacks in the areas of Varvarivka, Zaliznychne, Huliaipole, Pryluky, Olenokostiantynivka, and Myrne. The enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Vozdvyzhenske, Novoselivka, and Lyubytske. One engagement is ongoing.
- In the Orikhiv sector, the enemy attempted to advance near the village of Stepove. Additionally, the enemy carried out airstrikes on the areas around the villages of Stepnogorsk and Hryhorivka.
- In the Dnipro direction, the enemy carried out two unsuccessful assaults toward the Antonivsky Bridge and near Bilohrudy Island.
As a reminder, Russian troops are attempting to cross the Zherebets River, but these attempts have not yet had a significant impact on the situation.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the destruction of a Russian “Inokhodets” drone following a strike on the “Kirovskoye” airfield in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
