On August 23, Ukraine will experience a heat wave with temperatures reaching 37 degrees

On August 23, hot weather will continue across Ukraine, although brief showers and thunderstorms are possible in some regions. In the east and southeast, daytime temperatures will reach +35...+37°, while in the north and west it will be cooler—up to +24...+29°.

 

“At night and in the morning, most of the central and northern regions, as well as the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions, will see brief showers and thunderstorms in some areas; the rest of the country will remain dry during the day,” according to a statement from the Hydrometeorological Center.

The wind will be predominantly northwesterly, 5–10 m/s.

Nighttime temperatures will range from 12–17°, reaching up to 20° in the south and east of the country; during the day, 21–26° in the western, northern, and Vinnytsia regions; 27–32° across the rest of the country; and intense heat of +35–37° in the southeast.

In Kyiv and the surrounding region, brief showers and thunderstorms are forecast in some areas on Sunday night, with no precipitation during the day. The wind will be from the northwest at 5–10 m/s.

In the capital, temperatures will range from +15–17° at night to around +25° during the day; in the Kyiv region, temperatures will range from 12–17° at night to +21–26° during the day.

According to data from the Boris Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory, the average monthly air temperature in Kyiv in July was 20.8°C, which is 0.5°C below the climatological norm.

The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has issued a warning about heat reaching 38° and a fire hazard.
