Successful Electron rocket launch delivers BlackSky Gen-3 satellite into orbit
The American company Rocket Lab successfully placed the BlackSky Gen-3 satellite into orbit for radar imaging of the Earth’s surface using its small-lift Electron rocket.
The two-stage Electron rocket, equipped with the Kick Stage Curie upper stage, was launched from the LC-1 launch complex on the Māhia Peninsula in New Zealand. Approximately an hour after liftoff, the satellite was deployed into its target orbit at 470 km altitude.
This successful mission highlights Rocket Lab’s capabilities in cost-effective deployment of small satellites, which is significant for advancing Earth observation technologies.
