The High Anti-Corruption Court ordered the compulsory appearance of a former Ukrzaliznytsia official

The High Anti-Corruption Court has ordered the compulsory appearance of Vitaliy Tsvigun, former director of a branch of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia,” at the court hearing. According to the court, he failed to appear at 24 hearings. Prior to the sentencing, the former official was drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The High Anti-Corruption Court did not name the former director of the Ukrzaliznytsia branch, but the report suggests that it is Tsvigun, who is implicated in a case involving losses of 92 million hryvnias to Ukrzaliznytsia due to the purchase of diesel fuel at inflated prices.

The panel of judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court granted the motion of the prosecutor from the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and ordered the former director of the “Production Support Center” branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" directly to the court premises in Kyiv, the statement said.

The next court hearing is scheduled for June 9, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., the High Anti-Corruption Court announced on Facebook.

"The defendant is currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During the proceedings in this case, he failed to appear at 24 court hearings," the VAKS statement reads.

The court appealed to the military unit’s command to have him participate in the hearings via videoconference or at the nearest court near his place of service. Despite this, the defendant’s appearance was never secured, and he was fined for ignoring the summonses.

The former director of the UZ branch is accused of committing a criminal offense under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation or embezzlement of another person’s property that was entrusted to the person or under their control).

This was reported by the High Anti-Corruption Court.

The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court left the bail amounts for three Supreme Court judges unchanged.

Earlier, the High Anti-Corruption Court imposed a preventive measure in the form of bail in the amount of 3 million hryvnias on Supreme Court Judge Zhanna Yelenina. She is suspected of receiving an illegal benefit of $50,000 for issuing a court ruling in favor of the owner of the “Finance and Credit” group Konstantin Zhevago regarding shares in the Poltava Mining and Processing Plant.

Former Supreme Court Chairman Vsevolod Knyazev, several years after his high-profile arrest, admitted that he had received an illegal benefit from businessman Konstantin Zhevago and testified against a number of judges, which dramatically changed the course of one of the most high-profile anti-corruption cases in Ukraine in recent years.
