Ukraine and the European Union have moved to the practical stage of accession negotiations. The first fundamental cluster, which is one of the key ones in the process of European integration, has been opened. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy welcomed the start of this new phase and emphasized that this decision is of great significance for the country and Ukrainian society. According to the head of state, this outcome was made possible by the work of Ukrainian military personnel, diplomats, and all citizens who contribute daily to the country’s future.
The President emphasized that by standing up to Russian aggression, Ukraine is defending not only its own independence but also the security of all of Europe and the values upon which the European Union is built. “Ukraine is defending itself and, in doing so, all of Europe—the idea that European nations can live united, free, and in peace,” Zelenskyy noted.
He also stressed that Kyiv continues to fulfill all the necessary conditions for progress toward membership. “As we have said, Ukraine is doing what is necessary, and it is important that the EU also keeps its word. The opening of the first cluster is significant political and moral support for our state and people,” the president stated.
The head of state thanked Ukrainian defenders, diplomats, and everyone working to bring the country closer to full membership in the European Union. Separately, Zelenskyy congratulated Moldova, which is also on the path to European integration alongside Ukraine. According to him, both countries continue to move toward the European Union within the framework of a joint negotiation package.
