Zelenskyy commented on the incident involving a bus in Belarus
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that international experts found no evidence of Ukraine’s involvement in the attack on a bus in Belarus, which the Russian side had previously alleged. According to the head of state, this incident may be part of an attempt to drag Belarus into the war.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the incident involving the bus in Belarus, which the Russian side had previously attempted to use to level accusations against Ukraine. According to the head of state, the results of the investigation did not confirm any involvement by the Ukrainian military in this incident. The president emphasized that international experts had reached the same conclusions. “Everyone has already acknowledged—including international experts, and, I believe, even the ‘Russians’—that this was not our attack,” Zelenskyy said.
The head of state noted that such incidents may be part of a broader Russian strategy. In his view, Moscow is trying to create additional tension and find pretexts to drag Belarus into a full-scale war against Ukraine. “The Russians will carry out many different provocations in order to drag the people of Belarus into this war. This is one of them,” the president stated.
Zelenskyy emphasized that the Ukrainian side is closely monitoring such situations and urges people to rely on facts and the results of independent investigations. At the same time, the president did not specify which international experts he was referring to or when their findings were made public. Against the backdrop of the ongoing war, the issue of Belarus’s possible involvement in hostilities remains one of the most sensitive. Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly stated that Russia may use various informational and military provocations to increase pressure on Minsk.
Alexander Lukashenko himself has previously stated on multiple occasions that he does not want Belarus to be directly drawn into the war; however, Ukraine points to Minsk’s military cooperation with Moscow and Russia’s use of Belarusian territory. Thus, according to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the incident with the bus has become yet another episode that, in his view, may be part of a broader campaign by Russia. This was reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the negotiation process between the parties could resume, but the format of the dialogue has not yet been determined, and Ukraine insists on the participation of international partners in this process.
