Zelenskyy called on Europe to provide significantly more support to Armenia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy issued an official appeal to European leaders, calling for a significant increase in political, security, and economic support for Armenia. The head of state emphasized the importance of protecting the sovereignty of post-Soviet countries seeking to break free from Moscow’s influence, particularly ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia.

The Ukrainian president stressed that the European community is obligated to take a firm and proactive stance on protecting every nation “that Russia has sunk its teeth into” and is attempting to deprive of the right to independently determine its own future.

According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, this issue is fundamental and concerns the basic rules of global security. He also announced that in the near future, the Ukrainian side will present concrete practical proposals to international partners for coordinating joint steps in this direction. The day before, Ukraine’s military intelligence (Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense), led by Oleg Ivashchenko, obtained new internal Kremlin documents indicating that one of Moscow’s key objectives is the deliberate disruption and restriction of Ukraine’s strategic ties with the states of the South Caucasus, Moldova, and the countries of the Middle East.

The Ukrainian leader’s statement was a direct response to recent open threats from Russian President Vladimir Putin, voiced during a press conference following the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) summit in Astana. The Kremlin leader openly warned Yerevan that Armenia could face the so-called “Ukrainian scenario” if it continues on its path toward European integration and closer ties with Brussels. Drawing cynical parallels with the start of Russian aggression against Ukraine, Putin categorically stated that “the crisis in Ukraine began with attempts to integrate Ukraine into the EU.” Such aggressive statements provoked a sharp reaction from the international community and forced official Kyiv to intensify efforts to diplomatically protect countries in the region from new hybrid or military attacks by the Russian Federation.

Zelenskyy wrote about this on his Telegram channel.

The Russian agency “Rosselkhoznadzor” officially announced the introduction of temporary restrictions on the supply of a wide range of agricultural products from Armenia, effective June 3, 2026. June 2: The list of restrictions was expanded to include stone fruits and berries, blocking the supply of fresh cherries, sweet cherries, apricots, plums, peaches, nectarines, and grapes.
