Israel intercepts humanitarian flotilla bound for Gaza — The Times of Israel

The Israeli Navy has launched an operation to intercept the humanitarian "Global Sumud Flotilla," whose ships were heading toward the Gaza Strip.

This was reported by The Times of Israel.

The operation is taking place near Cyprus. Earlier, Israeli authorities warned the participants of the initiative that they must change course.

The flotilla, consisting of about 50 ships, set sail last week from the Turkish port of Marmaris.

The “Global Sumud Flotilla” is an international civil initiative established in 2025 by a coalition of pro-Palestinian organizations. Its stated goal is to break the naval blockade of the Gaza Strip, deliver humanitarian aid, and draw attention to the humanitarian situation in the enclave.

Israel agreed to a 10-day ceasefire with Lebanon and announced the start of a move toward a diplomatic settlement, but Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressed that the war against “Hezbollah” is not yet over and military operations will continue.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated in a video address that the campaign against Iran is not yet over. At the same time, he emphasized that there have already been “historic achievements” within the framework of this operation.
