Ukrzaliznytsia has adjusted train schedules due to the Russian attack

UA NEWS 18 May 2026 12:22
Ukrzaliznytsia has adjusted train schedules due to the Russian attack

The national railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia has implemented emergency changes to the schedules and routes of a number of passenger trains to ensure public safety following a massive nighttime shelling of the Dnipropetrovsk region.

This was reported by the press service of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” on Facebook.

The railway company’s monitoring teams responded promptly to the threats, which helped prevent casualties and damage to rolling stock.

Overnight, railway workers were forced to make quick decisions under critical conditions of imminent danger from the air.

Citizens were informed that, for the safety of passengers, “Ukrzaliznytsia” is “adjusting train schedules” following the massive nighttime shelling of the Dnipropetrovsk region.

It is noted that Ukrzaliznytsia’s monitoring teams delayed the departure of several trains due to the immediate threat of enemy drones (primarily in the Dnipropetrovsk region).

Thanks to timely preventive measures, the nighttime enemy raid did not result in tragic consequences for the company’s customers or the railway infrastructure.

“It is worth noting that despite the difficult night, UZ managed to protect passengers and rolling stock from any damage,” the company stated.

At the same time, Ukrzaliznytsia is adjusting some routes and making transfers to optimize further operations.

The adjustments to logistics plans are intended to return rail transport to its usual schedule as quickly as possible.

“So that the cars can turn around in time for their return trips, and delays for passengers are somewhat reduced,” they explained to passengers.

Up-to-date information on all delays is fully transparent and available for tracking online on the uz-vezemo portal.

Railway officials paid special attention to changes in the schedules for trains bound for Lviv, which usually departed from Dnipro. According to the company, train No. 79/80 “Dnipro–Lviv” (departing from Dnipro on May 17) will continue on to Kyiv.

The estimated departure time for the additional train from Kyiv (following the arrival of Train No. 79) is around 1:30 p.m.

The company has also planned a similar procedure with transfers in the capital for the return passenger flow to Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Return train No. 80 “Lviv–Dnipro” (departing on May 18) will depart from Kyiv.

For passengers traveling from Lviv to Kyiv, substitute train No. 292 “Lviv–Kyiv” will be provided.

Schedule adjustments also affect trains connecting Zaporizhzhia, Lozova, Dnipro, and the Zakarpattia region.

Train No. 86/85 “Zaporizhzhia–Lviv” is expected to arrive in Lviv around 9:00 p.m., as a result of which train No. 103/104 “Lviv–Lozova” will depart later than scheduled, around 11:00 p.m.

At the same time, Train No. 285/286 “Dnipro–Lviv” is expected to arrive in Lviv around 6:00 p.m., so the return trip, Train No. 286/285 “Lviv–Dnipro,” will depart approximately three hours late.

Train No. 83/84 “Dnipro–Uzhhorod” (departing from Dnipro on May 17) will continue on to Lviv.

A special transfer plan using separate train cars has also been developed for passengers traveling to Uzhhorod. Ukrainian Railways added that “passengers heading to Uzhhorod will be transferred to a separate train car in Lviv.”

The estimated departure time from Lviv to Uzhhorod is around 6:00 p.m. For passengers traveling from Uzhhorod in the opposite direction, a separate train will be organized to Lviv according to the schedule of Train No. 83/84, at approximately 4:45 p.m.

In Lviv, the main train will be waiting for passengers.
