Photo: Russia launched a massive attack on Odesa; a child is among the casualties
As a result of a massive nighttime attack by Russia on Odesa, residential buildings, a high school, and a kindergarten were damaged. According to preliminary reports, two people were injured, including an 11-year-old child.
This was reported on May 18 by Serhiy Lysak, head of the Odesa Military Administration.
“We have learned of two people injured as a result of the enemy attack. They are an 11-year-old boy and a 59-year-old man. They are receiving all necessary medical care,” Lysak wrote.
He added that in addition to residential buildings, a high school and a kindergarten were damaged.
“Operational headquarters are already being set up on the ground to assist the residents of Odesa. All emergency and utility services are working to address the aftermath,” the head of the Military Administration stated in his message.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported on groups of drones heading toward the Odesa region and Odesa itself shortly after 1 a.m. on May 18. The Russian Federation launched the drones, in particular, from the Black Sea.


On the night of May 17, a number of Russian military-industrial complex and energy facilities were struck in Moscow and the Moscow region. Strikes were carried out on an oil depot in Durikino, an oil refinery in Kapotnya, the Angstrom microelectronics plant, and the Raduga Design Bureau, which develops cruise missiles.
On the morning of May 16, Moscow also came under attack by drones, causing airports in the Russian capital to temporarily suspend operations.
The “ATESH” partisan movement claimed responsibility for a sabotage operation in the Moscow region, which disrupted the functioning of elements of the Russian air defense system on the outskirts of the capital.
