Weather Forecast for July 23: Rain and thunderstorms are expected in southern Ukraine
On Thursday, July 23, most regions of Ukraine are expected to experience warm and dry weather. At the same time, heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong gusts of wind in some areas are forecast for the south of the country, while daytime temperatures in Kyiv will reach a comfortable +22…+24 degrees.
This time, the atmospheric front has targeted the south of the country: moderate rain is expected in southern Ukraine, while the Odesa region and Crimea will see heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms. In the rest of the country, an area of slightly elevated pressure will ensure dry weather—only in the west of the country are brief showers and thunderstorms possible in some places during the day. Cool air continues to flow in from the northwest at higher elevations—this will keep temperatures within moderate ranges.
Winds will be predominantly northwesterly, and in the western regions, southwesterly, at 5–10 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will range from 10–15°, and 14–19° in the south and east of the country; daytime temperatures will range from 21–26°, reaching up to 29° in the eastern regions. In the Carpathians, where the cool weather is felt most acutely, temperatures will range from just 3–8° at night to 12–17° during the day.

On Thursday, July 23, Kyiv will see variable cloud cover, with no precipitation forecast—the capital will once again remain spared from the bad weather. The wind will be from the northwest at 5–10 m/s. Temperatures across the Kyiv region will range from 10–15° at night to 21–26° during the day; in Kyiv, temperatures will range from 12–14° at night to 22–24° during the day.

As a reminder, Belgium has recorded a sharp rise in mortality amid a severe heat wave. According to the Sciensano Institute of Public Health, the excess mortality rate reached 47%—the highest figure since records began in 2000.
Earlier, average nuclear power generation in France fell below 33 GW, the lowest level in the past nine months, due to the need to limit output at nuclear power plants. The reduction was caused by a critical rise in the temperature of the water in the rivers used to cool the reactors.
