The Ukrainian Armed Forces will soon receive laser weapons to take down FPV drones and "Shaheds"

Ukrainian developers and specialists from the Armed Forces of Ukraine are working on the development of domestically produced laser weapons. This was announced at a briefing by Brigadier General Andriy Lebedenko, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to him, the tested prototypes are already capable of shooting down FPV drones and are being tested against “Shahed”-type attack UAVs. It is expected that within 2–3 months, the Armed Forces will receive production-model weapons that will outperform traditional machine gun mounts in terms of effectiveness against aerial targets. Both units within the Armed Forces of Ukraine and private Ukrainian companies are involved in the project.

China, the U.S., and Israel have accelerated the laser weapons race due to the threat posed by drones.

The Obolon District Prosecutor’s Office in Kyiv has filed an indictment against two founders of a private company. They are accused of defrauding an American volunteer serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to the investigation, they promised to develop a laser weapon to combat drones and received over 3.1 million hryvnias for it.
