Over the past four days, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have eliminated more than 6,000 invaders
Ukrainian defenders are successfully thwarting the plans of the Russian aggressor, who significantly escalated the intensity of its offensive operations over a four-day period this week.
Between March 17 and 20, 2026, the enemy attempted to break through the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ defensive lines in several sectors of the front, but failed to achieve its objectives.
According to Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, fierce battles have erupted along the entire line of contact. In total, over these four days, the occupiers carried out 619 assault operations, committing significant reserves to the fight.
The invaders concentrated their main offensive on the Pokrovsk and Oleksandrivsk directions, where the highest enemy activity was recorded.
Specifically, our positions were attacked 163 times in the Pokrovsk direction and 96 times in the Oleksandrivsk direction.
The situation remains tense in the Kostyantynivka, Ocheretine, Lyman, and Kupiansk sectors as well.
Despite the immense pressure, the professional and coordinated actions of Ukrainian soldiers have allowed them to halt the enemy’s advance and force them to regroup their forces.
The Russian command is banking on deteriorating weather conditions, hoping this will reduce the effectiveness of Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance and artillery.
“Thanks to the professional, coordinated actions of Ukrainian soldiers, the enemy’s offensive operations were halted in several directions,” emphasized Oleksandr Syrskyi.
The cost of the attempted offensive proved catastrophic for the aggressor—over four days of intense “human wave” assaults, the enemy lost more than 6,090 servicemen killed and wounded.
The occupiers’ total losses for the week amounted to approximately 8,710 personnel, and a significant amount of enemy equipment was also destroyed.
As a reminder, Russia launched an offensive against the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ defensive line in Donetsk Oblast.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces also thwarted the Russian offensive planned for March.
