Audi unveils 987-hp Nuvolari hybrid supercar in Italy
Audi unveiled the 987-horsepower Nuvolari hybrid supercar in Mantua, Italy, named after racing driver Tazio Nuvolari. As Motor1 reports, Audi calls the new model the most powerful and fastest road car the brand has ever created.
Presentation in Mantua
The model's Italian premiere took place at Palazzo Te. In the palace complex's Courtyard of Honour, the Nuvolari was displayed alongside the historic Auto Union Type D race car.
Tazio Nuvolari was born in Castel d'Ario, a town in the province of Mantua. In an Auto Union Type D, he won the 1938 Italian Grand Prix. After Mantua, the car was also displayed in Monza and in central Milan during FuoriConcorso events.
The supercar was designed by AUDI AG Chief Creative Officer Massimo Frascella. Dynamic testing of the model, including at high speeds, was conducted at the Nardò Technical Center.

Technical specifications
The Nuvolari was developed in 405 days. The car received a fully carbon-fiber body, a first such solution for Audi, as well as a mid-engine layout.
The plug-in hybrid powertrain combines a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and three electric motors. Total output stands at 987 hp. According to Motor1, acceleration from 0 to 62 mph, or around 100 km/h, takes 2.6 seconds, while the top speed exceeds 217 mph, or about 349 km/h.
The supercar is equipped with a new-generation quattro all-wheel-drive system, active aerodynamics and carbon-ceramic brakes. The model will be produced in a limited run of 499 cars, with an estimated starting price of €500,000 to €600,000.
