BYD unveils battery that charges in five minutes
Chinese automaker BYD revealed its new Blade Battery 2.0 at a presentation in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, capable of charging from 10% to 70% in just five minutes and up to 97% in nine minutes. This breakthrough aims to reduce range anxiety among electric vehicle drivers.
Even in extreme cold weather at temperatures down to minus 30° Celsius, the battery can charge from 20% to 97% in only 12 minutes, the company stated. BYD chairman Wang Chuanfu emphasized that this technology will make charging electric vehicles as fast and convenient as refueling gasoline cars. Additionally, BYD plans to build 20,000 ultra-fast charging stations in China by the end of 2026 with capacities up to 1500 kW, 18,000 of which will be integrated into existing infrastructure.
This innovation could significantly shift public perception of electric vehicles and accelerate their widespread adoption thanks to enhanced charging speed and convenience.
