Citroën shows new images of electric 2CV ahead of premiere — Autocar

In France, Citroën has released new images of the revived 2CV model, which will be presented on the evening of October 11. The electric vehicle is set to become one of the new products at the Paris Motor Show. Autocar reports.

Retro design of the new 2CV

The published teasers show dome-shaped headlights positioned high on the front fenders, as well as deep longitudinal ridges on the hood. These elements refer to early versions of the original Citroën 2CV. There is also an open air intake between the front fenders and the hood — such a detail was featured on later versions of the historic model.

The car has large wheels styled as steel rims and Michelin tires. This is another reference to the original 2CV, in whose development Michelin played an important role.

Electric vehicle for less than 15,000 euros

Citroën chief Xavier Chardon said that the new 2CV is conceived as a practical people's car intended to restore more purchasing power to European drivers. According to him, the model is expected to make electric mobility more accessible.

Citroën previously said that it plans to set the 2CV's price at less than 15,000 euros. The company also developed the electric vehicle with the EU's proposed E-Car rules in mind, which are expected to significantly stimulate sales of small electric cars manufactured in the EU.

The new 2CV is expected to become the brand's entry-level model and take its place between the Ami quadricycle and the C3 crossover. The full presentation of the car is scheduled for 18:00 on Sunday, October 11.
