The Ford F-Series is once again the most popular car in the U.S.
The Ford F-Series pickup truck topped the list of the most popular new cars in the U.S. based on sales figures for the first five months of 2026. Despite a 15.1% year-over-year decline in sales, the model retained its lead and captured 4.5% of the U.S. auto market, according to Focus2Move.
Ford has been manufacturing the F-Series since 1948, and it is one of the most successful vehicle series in history. Over 40 million of these pickups have been produced during that time.
Second place went to the Chevrolet Silverado, which also belongs to the full-size pickup segment. Its market share stands at 3.6%.
The current versions of the Ford F-Series and Chevrolet Silverado are notable for their substantial dimensions. Most Ford F-Series models are over 5.8 meters long, which is comparable to the length of a World War II-era American M4 Sherman tank.
Experts note that both models are structurally closer to trucks than to classic passenger cars, yet they remain popular for everyday use thanks to their high level of comfort.
The top ten most popular vehicles on the U.S. market also include the Honda CR-V, Ram Pickup, Toyota Camry, GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Equinox, Tesla Model Y, Nissan Rogue, and Toyota RAV4.
