How to Register for Free Public Transportation for Schoolchildren in Kyiv Starting September 1

Starting September 1, students at general education schools in Kyiv can once again ride the city’s public transportation for free. This benefit applies to buses, trolleybuses, trams, the metro, the funicular, and the city commuter train, provided that students have a student pass and validate it.

A digital ticket can be generated for free in the Kyiv Digital app after the school verifies the student’s information. If desired, parents can order a plastic card costing 120 hryvnias, which takes up to one month to produce; it will have a unique number and share a balance with the digital version. Reissuance is required in the event of a change of school, grade, or expiration of the document.

Students must use the benefit personally from their own smartphone, where they can generate up to 5 QR tickets valid for 30 minutes and up to 20 tickets per day. The app includes a monitoring feature for parents, allowing them to receive notifications for each validation and view their child’s travel history.
