Kyiv is preparing for prolonged blackouts
Marina Honda, Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration, urged Kyiv residents to prepare in advance for a difficult winter and, if possible, to consider alternative housing in case of prolonged power outages.
According to her, a city with a population of about 4 million people will not be able to centrally provide alternative housing for everyone. At the same time, there are no plans for a mass evacuation of Kyiv.
Targeted assistance and temporary relocation are primarily intended for elderly people living alone, Kyiv residents with limited mobility, people requiring constant care, and orphans.
Honda emphasized that people will not be forcibly evacuated. At the same time, the city is preparing for various scenarios, including prolonged disruptions to electricity, heat, and water supply.
