Zelenskyy called the attack on Kyiv and the surrounding region one of the largest
The Russian attack last night was one of the most cynical and large-scale strikes against Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
In Kyiv and the surrounding region, 30 residential buildings, a school, a children’s hospital, and a preschool were damaged. As of now, 15 people are known to have died in the capital.
More than 600 rescue workers and police officers have been deployed to address the aftermath in Kyiv, Brovary, and Boryspil.
According to Zelenskyy, Russia used various types of missiles and 168 drones. Ukrainian air defense forces shot down all Russian “Kalibr” missiles, and the overall interception rate for cruise missiles was 93%.
The president emphasized that ballistic missiles remain the greatest threat, and that additional missiles for the Patriot systems are needed to strengthen Ukraine’s defenses.

Russia is planning new attacks on Ukraine’s power grid and water supply facilities ahead of the heating season. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that the enemy intends to wear down Ukrainian society by striking critical infrastructure.
Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi stated that Ukraine’s energy sector faces an unmet need of approximately 650 million euros ahead of the heating season.
