Kyiv has reimbursed veterans more than ₴20 million for the purchase of cars
In 2026, Kyiv partially reimbursed war veterans with Group I and II disabilities for the purchase of 34 vehicles—27 new and seven used. The total amount of payments exceeded 20 million hryvnias.
According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, the capital became the first city in Ukraine to introduce a program providing partial reimbursement for the cost of vehicles purchased by veterans.
“Kyiv became the first city in Ukraine to introduce partial reimbursement for purchased cars. And starting this year, the city will partially reimburse not only new cars but also used ones. In addition, veterans with Group I disabilities resulting from the war—who have not undergone amputations—are now eligible for compensation,” Vitali Klitschko noted.
The Kyiv City State Administration explained that the program is available to Kyiv residents who are veterans, as well as veterans with disabilities who are internally displaced persons and have lived and been registered in Kyiv for more than one year.
During a meeting with veterans, the mayor also discussed the challenges they face upon returning to civilian life and announced further expansion of support programs.
“I spoke with the defenders about the problems they face and how the city’s initiatives are helping them integrate into civilian life. Based on the results of the meeting, we will develop new solutions for veteran support programs,” Vitali Klitschko emphasized.
This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration.
A new service was recently launched in Ukraine on the “Diya” portal, which allows veterans and their families to submit a single joint application to receive several government services at once. In particular, through the system, it is now possible to immediately apply for the status of a person with a war-related disability, the status of a family member of a fallen Defender, social assistance, as well as a one-time cash payment from the Ministry of Veterans Affairs.
As a reminder, “Diia” has automated the process of extending employee reservations.
