A Kyiv resident has been charged with letting his dog die of heat exhaustion on the balcony
A Kyiv resident has been notified that he is suspected of animal cruelty resulting in the animal’s death. The man locked a French bulldog named “Rafik” on the balcony as “punishment,” leaving the dog without food, water, or exercise in direct sunlight, which resulted in the animal’s death. The suspect’s girlfriend discovered the dead dog, and her mother reported the incident to law enforcement.
According to neighbors, the 37-year-old owner had kept the dog for over two years, constantly treated it aggressively, and often left it tied up on the street. Under the procedural supervision of the Holosiivskyi District Prosecutor’s Office in Kyiv, the perpetrator faces a sentence of up to three years in prison.

This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
In Kyiv, the Dniprovskyi District Court handed down a harsh sentence to a 31-year-old local resident, finding him guilty of cruel treatment of a stray dog, which led to its death. The perpetrator was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison.
Meanwhile, a bill has been introduced in the Verkhovna Rada that tightens regulations on the keeping of both wild and domestic animals. For the first time, imprisonment will be introduced as a penalty for smuggling them.
