Kyiv received two fire trucks from Barcelona
Kyiv has received two new fire trucks from its sister city, Barcelona. The vehicles will strengthen the capabilities of the capital’s emergency responders and help them respond more quickly to emergencies.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced this after a meeting with Barcelona Mayor Jaume Collboni and a delegation from the Spanish city.
According to Klitschko, Barcelona has been providing regular support to Kyiv since the start of the full-scale war. In addition to fire trucks, the city has previously donated generators and other humanitarian aid.
The new specialized equipment will be used, in particular, to address the aftermath of Russian shelling and to rescue people.
Kyiv and Barcelona also signed a memorandum of cooperation. It provides for joint work in the areas of urban infrastructure, energy efficiency, mobility, digitalization, culture, sports, and support for veterans.
Kyiv and Barcelona officially became sister cities in September 2022.

In Kyiv, there is a proposal to allow metro trains to operate during air raid alerts on certain sections of the line to reduce the strain on surface transportation and cut travel time for thousands of passengers.
