Kyiv to Allocate Another 2 Billion Hryvnia to the Armed Forces of Ukraine – Klitschko

The Kyiv City Council is increasing funding for the city’s “Defender of Kyiv” program by another 2 billion hryvnias. These funds will be used to provide logistical support to military units, specifically for the large-scale procurement of unmanned aerial vehicles, electronic warfare systems, specialized equipment, and other necessary gear for Ukrainian troops

The additional funding will significantly expand the scope of support for defenders directly on the front lines and ensure that security and defense forces can carry out their current combat missions. This decision marks yet another step taken by the capital’s authorities this year aimed at strengthening the Ukrainian military. In particular, in January, at the initiative of the city’s mayor, the Kyiv City Council had already increased funding for defense needs by 3 billion hryvnias.

Providing financial assistance to the army remains a key priority for the Kyiv region amid the ongoing state of martial law. Last year, a total of over 12 billion hryvnias was allocated from Kyiv’s municipal budget to support military personnel, veterans, and their families—the highest level of funding for military needs among all regions and cities in Ukraine.

This was announced by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko at the start of a plenary session of the Kyiv City Council.

The Kyiv community has provided the assault regiment with nearly 3,000 drones.

Klitschko explained how Kyiv is helping residents in the wake of Russian shelling.
