The home of a well-known Ukrainian gymnast was damaged during the shelling of Kyiv

In Kyiv, an apartment building where Yeva Meleshchuk, the 2023 European runner-up in rhythmic gymnastics, lives was damaged as a result of a Russian missile attack on the night of June 15. The athlete herself was in a shelter during the strikes and was unharmed. 

According to Meleshchuk, a ballistic missile struck near her residential complex, destroying a neighboring building. As a result, the elevators in her building were destroyed, the entrance to the parking garage was damaged, and the ceiling on the basement level partially collapsed. 

Later, Yeva Meleshchuk published a post condemning Russian aggression and declaring that Ukrainians are being subjected to genocide. “June 15, 2026. Our home. I hate Russia and everyone who supports it,” she noted.

The gymnast condemned Russia’s aggression, noting that there was a lot of smoke and broken glass around the residential complex and that people had been injured. As a reminder, Yeva Meleshchuk is a student of Irina Deryugina’s academy and a silver medalist at the European Championships in the team competition.
