A court ordered the demolition of a pigeon coop that was being used in an attempt to seize land in Kyiv

In response to a lawsuit filed by the Svyatoshyn District Prosecutor’s Office, the Commercial Court ordered a private company to demolish an illegally constructed pigeon coop on Yefremova Street and vacate the municipal land. The company illegally registered ownership of the aviary as real estate in order to obtain 0.5 hectares of land without competition.

The Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office announced the cancellation of the state registration of the plot and the termination of ownership rights to the property.

The land plot, valued at 12 million hryvnias, was registered in the State Land Cadastre as a step toward its subsequent transfer for use. The company planned to build a multi-story residential building with retail and entertainment facilities on the site. However, the prosecutor’s office proved in court that the registration of the pigeon loft as a capital structure was unfounded. The court fully granted the claims, protecting the local community from losing valuable land. Now the owner is obligated to dismantle the structure at their own expense and return the territory to the city in proper condition. Enforcement of the court decision is being monitored by the district prosecutor’s office. Thus, the implementation of an illegal development scheme in the Sviatoshynskyi district was successfully prevented.

As a reminder, in March 2026, the process of returning 9.5 hectares of forest land in the Boryspil district of Kyiv Oblast to state ownership was completed; this land had been illegally held by entities controlled by Viktor Medvedchuk and Oleksandr Klymenko.

Previously, the appellate court overturned an illegal decision by the Bucha District Council, and the 3,000-hectare Bilychansky Forest was returned to the Kyiv community.

Also, after nearly five years of legal proceedings, a complex of historic buildings dating from 1830 to 1910, located in the historic part of Podil near Zamkova Hill, was returned to the Kyiv community.
