A teenager died in Kyiv after falling from a commuter train

A tragedy occurred on the railway in the Svyatoshynsky district of the capital: a young boy was killed after being struck by a commuter train.

According to preliminary reports from the Kyiv police, the teenager was standing between the train cars while the train was moving, lost his balance, and fell onto the tracks. The child died at the scene from his injuries.

Two other minors were on the roof of the train cars with the victim but were unharmed. An investigative team and juvenile police officers are working at the scene to determine the full circumstances of the tragedy. Law enforcement officials are once again urging parents to pay closer attention to their children’s leisure activities and to explain the dangers of playing near railway facilities.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway as part of a criminal proceeding. Police are identifying those involved in the incident and verifying compliance with railway safety regulations. This is not the first case of teenagers engaging in extreme activities on trains that has resulted in fatalities. The legal classification of the incident and liability for failure to supervise children are being determined.

Earlier, a tragedy occurred in Kyiv’s Solomyanskyi district—three teenagers were electrocuted after climbing onto the roof of a train. One of them died.
