In Kyiv, a Volkswagen crashed into a bus stop with people waiting there; there are fatalities and injuries
A fatal traffic accident occurred in the Solomyanskyi District of Kyiv, killing two women and injuring four other people. Law enforcement officers detained the driver of the Volkswagen Golf.
According to preliminary information, the accident occurred around 9:00 a.m.
The 23-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Golf was traveling in the lane designated for public transportation, coming from Yerevanska Street toward Umanska Street.
The driver attempted to change lanes but collided with the side of a “Bogdan” route bus traveling ahead of him.
After the collision, the car lost control and veered into a public transit stop where people were waiting.
According to law enforcement officials, two women were killed in the accident. Four other people were injured.
An investigative team from the Kyiv Police Department’s Traffic Accident Investigation Division, patrol officers, and medical personnel are working at the scene of the fatal accident.
The driver of the Volkswagen Golf, who caused the accident, was detained.
Under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, a pretrial investigation has been launched under Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—violation of traffic safety rules resulting in the death of several people.
Law enforcement officials are establishing all the circumstances of the fatal traffic accident.
