A woman in Kyiv will stand trial for a shooting stemming from a dispute with a neighbor
A pretrial investigation has been completed in Kyiv into a shooting incident in the Svyatoshynsky District. A 43-year-old local woman is accused of assaulting a 27-year-old man following a dispute over noise in the courtyard of an apartment building. The indictment has been submitted to the court.
The incident occurred in May on Akademika Korolyova Avenue. According to the investigation, a group of men and women was relaxing near a residential building and behaving noisily. A 27-year-old local resident complained to the group about the noise, after which a conflict arose between him and the group.
The investigation established that during the argument, a 43-year-old woman pulled out a pistol and fired several shots at the man.
As a result of the shooting, the 27-year-old man sustained gunshot wounds:
- injuries to the abdomen;
- a wound to his arm.
The victim was immediately transported to a medical facility for treatment.
After the incident, the woman left the scene.
Following investigative operations, officers from the Svyatoshyn Police Department, in collaboration with analysts from the Criminal Analysis Unit, identified the suspect. The woman was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
During a search of the suspect’s residence, law enforcement officers seized a pistol and ammunition. The weapon and ammunition were sent for forensic examination.
After completing the initial investigative actions, the woman was notified that she was suspected of violating Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—hooliganism committed with the use of a weapon. The penalty under this article provides for imprisonment for up to seven years.

The court will subsequently determine the defendant’s guilt and impose a sentence, according to the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv.
