Video: A 7-year-old girl celebrated her birthday in the Kyiv Metro during a Russian attack
During the massive Russian shelling of Kyiv on the night of July 2, a seven-year-old girl celebrated her birthday in a shelter at a metro station. The celebration took place right in the middle of an air raid alert.
A Kyiv resident shared a video showing her daughter celebrating her seventh birthday in the subway. The girl is sitting on the subway floor, playing on her phone with headphones on. The family brought their pet along to the shelter as well.
The birthday girl’s mother asked social media users to send her daughter birthday wishes. She also noted that a celebration awaits her daughter at home, but her birthday began in the shelter due to Russia’s attack.
“My daughter is celebrating her seventh birthday in the subway. Please send her your birthday wishes! She’ll be so happy when she sees them in the morning!) And there’s a little cake waiting for her in the fridge at home… What a happy childhood,” wrote the author of the post.
So, in the comments, users wished the girl a happy birthday. It turns out that quite a few Ukrainians celebrate their birthdays on this day:
