Video: A suspect who robbed a gas station at knifepoint was arrested in Kyiv
In Kyiv’s Desnianskyi District, law enforcement officers detained a man suspected of committing an armed robbery at a gas station. According to the investigation, he threatened the cashiers with a knife and stole their cell phones.
The incident occurred on Brovarsky Avenue. According to investigators, the assailant burst into the gas station and began threatening two cashiers with a knife, demanding their mobile phones. The victims managed to break free, run out of the sales area, and hide in a back room, from where they called the police.
Within minutes, officers from Special Purpose Police Regiment No. 1 arrived at the scene. They quickly subdued and detained the assailant inside the gas station.
The perpetrator turned out to be a 28-year-old native of the Volyn region. As law enforcement officers determined, he is a military servicemember who, at the time of the crime, was in the status of having deserted his unit without permission.
Investigators from the Desnianskyi Police Department, under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor’s office, notified the detainee that he is suspected of violating Part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (robbery committed under martial law). The suspect is currently in custody. He faces a sentence of up to 15 years in prison for the crime.
