A petition has been launched calling for urgent repairs to the Paton Bridge
A petition calling for the urgent repair of the Paton Bridge has appeared on the Kyiv City e-petition website. The petition was initiated by Dmytro Perov. As of April 28, fewer than 1,000 Kyiv residents had signed the petition, but the collection of signatures is ongoing.
For it to be considered, at least 6,000 signatures must be collected. The author of the petition mentions the possibility of cooperation with Lithuanian counterparts of the Kyiv administration.
In the document, he states the following:
“In March 2026, the mayor of Vilnius, Valdas Benkunskas, promised to help Kyiv with the construction of a new pedestrian bridge to Obolonskyi Island, near Pryrichna Street. Recognizing the interest of our foreign partners in assisting Kyiv and based on the current and urgent needs of the local community, we ask Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko to request that the Lithuanian side allocate appropriate philanthropic funds for the urgent repair of the Paton Bridge, which has been deemed structurally unsafe.”
As a reminder, traffic on the Kyiv–Chop highway will be partially restricted due to repairs.
The government has announced when road repairs will be completed.
Approximately 50 billion hryvnias are needed for the restoration and routine maintenance of roads in Ukraine.
Ukraine has begun routine repairs of the road surface on public roads.
