A teenager was detained in Kyiv after fleeing from the police while intoxicated in someone else’s car – video

Patrol officers detained a 17-year-old boy who took a Ford car from his relatives without permission and went on a nighttime joyride through the Darnytskyi district with two friends. During the chase, which began in the district and ended on Boryspil Highway, the driver ignored orders to stop and drove against traffic.

The Kyiv Patrol Police reported on the details of the arrest and the minor’s numerous violations.

A Drager breathalyzer recorded a blood alcohol level of 1.27                                                                                          Administrative reports were filed against the teenager for repeat driving under the influence, failure to comply with a stop order, and driving without a valid license. In addition to administrative liability, investigators initiated criminal proceedings for resisting law enforcement and failure to comply with a court order.

The parents of all three teenagers also faced consequences—they were charged with neglecting their parental duties. The situation gained widespread attention after a video of the dangerous stunt appeared on social media, coinciding with heightened security measures due to Russian aggression. The car was impounded, and the young man’s fate will be decided by the court, taking into account aggravating circumstances. Thus, an attempt at teenage self-assertion led to serious legal consequences for the entire group and their families.

The Holosiivskyi District Court sentenced a former prosecutor’s office employee to 7.5 years in prison for fatally striking a woman while drunk in central Kyiv. The Office of the Prosecutor General considers this sentence too lenient and will file an appeal.

It was also reported that the judge who killed a National Guard soldier while drunk is still receiving his salary.
