Photos, videos: A thunderstorm with hail hit Kyiv
On Sunday, April 26, the right bank of Kyiv was suddenly hit by severe weather. After a calm spring day, the city was struck by a thunderstorm accompanied by heavy rain and hail.
The heaviest precipitation was recorded in the Podil, Shevchenkivskyi, and Pechersk districts of the capital.
Eyewitnesses on social media are posting videos showing how pea-sized hail covered lawns and sidewalks with a white layer in just a few minutes.
The storm was accompanied by bright lightning, loud claps of thunder, and gusty winds. Meteorologists attribute this to the passage of a cold atmospheric front affecting the northern regions of Ukraine.

Due to deteriorating weather conditions, drivers are advised to be especially careful:
- keep a safe distance, as hail on the road creates a slippery surface;
- do not park under trees due to the risk of falling branches;
- turn on low beams due to reduced visibility.

According to forecasts, the capital will see cloudy weather with some sunny intervals. No precipitation is expected at night, but light rain is possible in some areas during the day.
The air temperature at night is 7–9°F, and during the day — 10–12°F. The wind is southwesterly, 7–12 mph.
Earlier, due to severe weather in the Kyiv region, more than 80,000 customers were left without power. The cause was strong winds that knocked down trees and damaged power lines. Utility crews are already on site and working to restore power as quickly as possible.
