Actor Ryu Jun-yeol plans to acquire and produce films
South Korean actor Ryu Jun-yeol, who played two roles in the new Korean Netflix series Mousetrap, said he intends to acquire and produce films. He wants to support independent and smaller-scale projects that may find it difficult to secure a place in the traditional commercial system.
As The Korea Herald reports, the actor is already attending international film markets, holding meetings and building partnerships in the industry. Ryu Jun-yeol confirmed that several projects are already in development, but has not yet disclosed details.
Plans in film production
The actor explained that he would like to acquire and produce films that he himself wants to watch. He said his main motivation is the desire to watch such films together with other people and share the experience.

Ryu Jun-yeol also noted that as he gained experience, he became more actively involved in the creative process at the early stages of project development. According to him, he now discusses ideas with directors and producers more often rather than limiting himself solely to acting work.
Dual role in Mousetrap
In Mousetrap, which was released on August 28, Ryu Jun-yeol played Moon Jae and his mysterious double named Mouse. In the plot, the double assumes the protagonist's identity. The psychological thriller raises the question of how society can verify a person's identity when conventional systems cannot distinguish the original from the copy.
The actor called the dual role perhaps the most difficult of his 14-year career. He said the work required him to abandon his usual professional approaches. An additional challenge was the series' visual concept: nearly 50 different lenses were used during filming, including special solutions for extremely close shots.
