"The Devil Wears Prada 2" debuted at the top of the global box office
The latest installment of the cult classic grossed over $300 million in its opening weekend, significantly surpassing the box office performance of the original 2006 film.

The original 2006 film "The Devil Wears Prada" debuted with $27.5 million and cost about $40 million, not accounting for inflation.
Disney’s 20th Century studio has already spent approximately $100 million on the sequel’s production, not including the global marketing budget. Director David Frankel told The New York Times that the sequel’s budget “went mostly toward the cast.”
“The Devil Wears Prada 2” was the only major new release this weekend, so the remaining films accounted for the rest of the box office receipts—with “Michael” taking second place.
The 2006 film was based on Lauren Weisberg’s 2003 autobiographical novel about her time as an assistant to Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
In the sequel, "The Devil Wears Prada 2," the story unfolds two decades later, when Andy Sachs returns to Runway magazine as a section editor under the guidance of the influential editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly.
As in the first film, the lead roles will be played by Meryl Streep (Miranda Priestly), Anne Hathaway (Andrea Sachs), Emily Blunt (Emily Charlton), and Stanley Tucci (Nigel Kipling). British actor Kenneth Branagh will also join the main cast, playing Miranda’s husband.
David Frankel, Wendy Finerman, and Elin Brosch McKenna will remain the director, producer, and screenwriter of the sequel, respectively.
Lauren Weisberger published the sequel to *The Devil Wears Prada* back in 2013. In the book, 30-year-old Andy was already a successful magazine editor, working alongside her former colleague Emily and preparing for her wedding, until Miranda reappeared in her life.
The film premiered on April 30. However, according to Disney Hulu, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” aired live on Disney+ on April 20 at 6:30 p.m.
As a reminder, a lost film by Georges Méliès featuring the first robot in cinema history was discovered in the U.S.
Warner Bros. is also developing a prequel film set in the "Game of Thrones" universe.
The film "The Sharp-Hatted: The Immortal" debuted with a 93% approval rating.
