Jalen Brunson played an office worker on SNL — Rolling Stone

New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time, where he played an office worker named Darius. His character tries to toss a sandwich wrapper into a trash bin at the last second to impress his colleagues.

As Rolling Stone reports, after the first unsuccessful attempt, the colleagues return to discussing grants and rules. However, Darius says the shot was not the last one: according to him, the “referee” left one more second on the clock.

New attempts

After another miss, the character is told that the game is finally over. But Darius again interrupts the work conversation and explains the extra time by the switch to daylight saving time. When a colleague played by Sarah Sherman notes that there are no wrappers left, he shows a bin filled with them.

Darius continues throwing wrappers with his non-dominant hand and with his eyes closed, but misses. Another colleague, played by Mikey Day, slaps him and says that he is bad at basketball. After that, Darius admits that he is a Knicks player.

The successful shot

The character explains that since childhood he had dreamed of working in a modest office position and making the decisive shot in front of his colleagues. At the end of the sketch, spotlights, a smoke machine, and sound effects are turned on in the office. Brunson, sitting in an office chair, makes the shot into a bin across the room, while his colleagues chant “MVP.”
