AlUla residency participants win awards at Paris design prize — Asharq Al-Awsat

Participants in the AlUla art residency received distinctions at the fourth Design Award, organized by the Arab World Institute in Paris, France. Asharq Al-Awsat reports, citing the Saudi Press Agency.

Recognition for Aseel AlMoudi

Saudi architect and artist Aseel AlMoudi won the Emerging Talent Award for the Playformation: The Curve and The Dot project. The work is inspired by rock formations and the natural curves of the AlUla landscape.

Sculptural trilogy

Altin Studio, founded by Yasmine Sfar and Mehdi Kebaier, received the Contemporary Craftsmanship Award for the sculptural work Our AlUla Trilogy, created in 2025.

The trilogy consists of three works — Wadi, Waha and Yusr. Palm wood and plant fibers were used to make them. The project combines traditional crafts with contemporary design, drawing on the landscapes of AlUla, natural materials, and the palm cultures of Saudi Arabia and Tunisia.

The publication noted that the participants' international distinctions reflect the residency's expanding presence on the global design scene. The program is part of AlUla's cultural and artistic life, which also hosts other residency programs, exhibitions, events and festivals.
