Enter Shikari to go on hiatus at the end of 2027 — The Guardian

British rock band Enter Shikari, from St Albans in the United Kingdom, has announced that it will suspend its activities as a studio and live act from December 31, 2027. The members said that this period of inactivity could end with the band returning or with its permanent dissolution.

The Guardian reports on the musicians' decision. Enter Shikari stressed that they do not consider this a breakup, but they have no plans beyond 2027. According to the band, after two decades of professional work, having no plans three years ahead feels liberating.

Tours before the hiatus

Before suspending its work, Enter Shikari plans to tour the United Kingdom in November and perform in Europe and the United States next year. The musicians hope to play once more at some of their favorite venues, but will not announce a farewell world tour.

The band also said that its vocalist, Rou Reynolds, has recently been ill. At the same time, the members stressed that difficult conversations about the collective's future had begun before this. They explained the decision by saying that their priorities and opportunities had changed over the years of working together.

New music

Enter Shikari are working on new music which, according to the band, listeners should hear sooner rather than later. The musicians have also completed filming another project, details of which were not disclosed.

The group was founded in 1999 under the name Hybryd. Since then, Enter Shikari have released six albums that entered the UK top 10, including A Kiss for the Whole World, which reached number one in 2023. The band's well-known singles include Anything Can Happen in the Next Half, Juggernauts and Sssnakepit.
