Oceans Calling festival cancels first day due to bad weather — Rolling Stone

Organizers of the Oceans Calling music festival canceled Friday’s program due to bad weather and beach erosion that affected the venue. A nor’easter was forecast to bring strong winds, heavy rain and flooding to the East Coast.

Among the artists whose performances will not take place on the first day of the festival are Dave Matthews Band, Hootie and the Blowfish, Ludacris, Yellowcard, Liz Phair, Shaggy and O.A.R. As Rolling Stone reports, in a statement on the festival’s website, organizers said that weather conditions throughout the week and beach erosion made it impossible to safely complete preparations by Friday.

Organizers emphasized that the safety of attendees, artists, staff and the local community is a priority. Holders of single-day tickets for Friday will automatically receive refunds. Buyers of three-day tickets purchased directly through Front Gate Tickets will receive a refund of 33% of the cost. Refunds are promised in less than 30 days to the original method of payment.

Weekend program

Performances on Saturday and Sunday are currently scheduled to take place. The festival team said it is working to prepare the event for the remainder of the weekend and hopes for improved weather conditions.
