Matchmaking 3 by director Erez Tadmor released in Israel — Jerusalem Post

The romantic dramedy Matchmaking 3, directed by Erez Tadmor, has been released in Israel. It is the third installment in a film series about the life of the ultra-Orthodox community. In the new film, the characters travel to New York, where they try to find a groom for the daughter of an American ultra-Orthodox billionaire.

As reported by the Jerusalem Post, the central character Baruch, played by Maor Schwitzer, is preparing to marry Ruth, played by Niv Sultan. They do not have the money for the wedding Baruch wants. After learning that businessman Michael Herstel is offering $100,000 to whoever finds a suitable husband for his daughter Rivka, Baruch travels to the United States with his mentor Malki.

Plot in New York

Herstel is played by American actor Michael Rapaport. According to Tadmor, the character is looking for not only a husband for his daughter, but also someone who could eventually take over his business. Herstel sees talent in Baruch, who was forced to survive without significant advantages in life.

The plot also develops the relationship between Baruch and Ruth. For a time, the characters part ways, and Baruch may turn out to be a suitable match for Rivka. At the same time, Ruth is courted by a young man with whom she previously had a relationship. He is played by Yadin Gellman.

Creative team and continuation

Tadmor wrote the screenplay together with Hava Divon, Sarel Piterman, and Sharon Maimon. Producer Yaki Reisner, who comes from an ultra-Orthodox Lithuanian family from Bnei Brak and plays Malki's husband, also worked on the project.

The first two films in the series, according to the publication, sold millions of tickets in Israel during the pandemic and the war and attracted secular and religious audiences. Tadmor also said that he is working on a fourth Matchmaking film, but did not disclose details.
