Ghanaian musician Black Sherif releases Sun Sherif EP

In Ghana, musician Black Sherif has released the six-track EP Sun Sherif via RBA/Empire. The release is the artist’s next work following his second album, Iron Boy, MyJoyOnline reports.

Themes of the new release

On Sun Sherif, the 24-year-old performer addresses themes of love, life, resilience and self-discovery. The EP’s lead track is Love Again, recorded with Trinidadian artist Full Blown.

Black Sherif said that much of the affection he needed came to him from afar — both physically and figuratively. According to him, this makes it difficult for him to accept and sustain love or intimacy, although he strongly desires them. In the new project, the musician decided to show listeners this side of his experience.

EP tracks

In Expresso, Black Sherif reflects on the instability of rapid success, loneliness, excess, risk and the personal cost of endurance. Run Around is dedicated to romantic relationships and the desire to be understood, while Jolie addresses devotion.

In Forever, recorded with AraTheJay, the artist turns to the spiritual component of his work and views solitude as a state protected by faith. The release’s hardest-sounding track is Frontline, which addresses betrayal, money, pride and readiness for new challenges.

Fashion and sports

In 2024, Black Sherif took part in the Labrum London show during London Fashion Week and later made his debut at Paris Fashion Week with Off-White. Christian Louboutin also dressed the musician for the brand’s event with GQ during BRIT Awards week. Recently, he released the song Find A Way as part of a PUMA campaign dedicated to Ghana’s participation in the FIFA World Cup.
