HBO has released a new trailer for the “Harry Potter” series, featuring scenes from the first book—from the main characters’ arrival at Hogwarts to the events surrounding the Philosopher’s Stone.
Dominic McLaughlin plays the lead role in the new adaptation. The actor portrays 11-year-old Harry Potter—a role played by Daniel Radcliffe in the original film franchise.
Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger were played by Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton. In the trailer, the trio arrives at Hogwarts and goes through the Sorting Ceremony, after which all three end up in the House of Gryffindor.
The trailer also shows Harry meeting the teachers and other school staff. Among them are Albus Dumbledore, Severus Snape, Minerva McGonagall, and Rubeus Hagrid.
Some scenes are dedicated to classes at Hogwarts. The trailer features lessons in Herbology and Potions, as well as Quidditch.
In addition, the new trailer reveals the main plotline of the first book—the mystery of the Philosopher’s Stone, which Harry, Ron, and Hermione begin to investigate.
HBO plans to adapt all seven of J.K. Rowling’s books into seven seasons. The first season will consist of eight episodes and will be based on *Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone*.
The premiere of the first season is scheduled for Christmas.
